I met Mamalou founder Callie Rogers at an event in Austin, and was immediately impressed with her enthusiasm and can-do attitude. When she reached out to me about handling the brand strategy and design for her new diaper bag company, I leapt at the opportunity to collaborate with this talented, passionate business owner.
Mamalou is all about empowering moms with a fashion-forward take on the modern diaper bag. Style-focused new mamas have enough things to worry about - schlepping around diaper bags that are either just ok functionally, or not so pretty to look at, should not be one of them.
In the initial research phase, I conducted competitor research, assisted with naming, and used Mamalou's brand values to create a brand strategy board that helped us determine the visual voice of the brand. Bright pops of color, bold type and joyful lifestyle photography that celebrates motherhood were all part of the equation.
I developed several logo concepts and a clean, modern type treatment with a simple baby rattle icon was selected as the brand logo. I also created several pattern concepts for use as bag liner patterns and for collateral pieces.
Website design is a work in progress, launching in early 2018.
